Membership Rules and Policies

Clubhouse Rules & Regulations
To ensure the optimum enjoyment of the Clubhouse and grounds, the House Committee oversees compliance with the following rules and regulations. Any situation not specifically referred to in the Rules & Regulations and/or any necessary interpretation thereof shall be resolved by the House Committee.

CANCELLATION
Cancellation (no-show) for special events less than 72 hours in advance will result in forfeiture of 100% of the event’s cost. Some limited “Special Event’s” may have a longer forfeiture period.
Limited “Special Event” reservations for certain holiday events and will be accepted 30 days prior to the special event. Cancellation of Reservations for Club Sponsored events less than 72 hours in advance will result in forfeiture of 100% of the event’s cost.

CHILDREN
Inverness recognizes its special function as a family Club and therefore, asks everyone’s careful attention to rules governing children.
Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the Clubhouse unless accompanied by an adult. Children 16 and over are permitted in the Clubhouse, and will be afforded all the services of the Club and will be held to the same standards of behavior as any member’s guest. Any behavior problems may result in the loss of Clubhouse privileges. Parents are responsible for supervision of their children at all times while at the Club.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or an adult (name registered with Club Office). The pool and racquet staff are not responsible for “baby sitting” or “parenting” member’s children. It is the member’s responsibility to supervise and care for their children.
Children under the age of 21 are allowed to dine throughout the club with the appropriate supervision. After 5pm children under 21 are not permitted to dine in bar/lounge..

CLUB CHITS
All food, beverage, carts, green fees and other Club services will be charged by the appropriate Club chit.

CLUBHOUSE RELATED BULLETIN BOARDS
Notices of any kind are not permitted to be posted on the Club’s bulletin boards unless first approved by the Chairman of the appropriate Committee.

CONDUCT
All members, including their families and guests, shall conduct themselves properly at all times. Rude manners, coarse and/or foul language, displays of anger and/or ill temper will not be tolerated and such conduct will be subject to censure, suspension as in the provisions of Article 5.05 of the Club’s Bylaws.
Speaking on cellular phones is discouraged in the Dining areas. Please respect your fellow members by not talking on your cellular phones while dining. Please keep phones on vibrate while in the Clubhouse.

DINING HOURS
Dining hours are listed on the IGC Website, in monthly newsletter, the club app and e-mail updates and are subject to change.

EMPLOYEE REPRIMAND
Members, including their families and guests, are not permitted to reprimand employees. Complaints or suggestions relating to employee conduct are to be sent to the Manager on Duty and/or the General Manager for appropriate action.

EMPLOYMENT
Family members of Club Members are not permitted to be employed by the Club in any capacity including as Caddies.

FOOD & BEVERAGE SERVICE
All food and beverage consumed or to be consumed on the Club premises must be purchased from the Club. All food and beverage purchased from the Club should be consumed on Club premises. Carry-Out/To-Go Orders are permitted.

GUESTS
Guests are to be accompanied by the host Member or a Member of the host Member’s family who is also entitled to Club privileges at all times. The host Member shall be re-sponsible for expenses incurred by the guest and shall also be held accountable for the guest’s conduct. Please inform all guests of the IGC Dress Code. 

GUNS
Guns are not allowed on premises at anytime.

LIABILITY
The Club is not responsible for loss of or damage to property (including loss of use thereof) or for injury to person or persons regardless of cause.

LOCKER ROOMS
Children 16 and older are permitted to use the Men’s/Ladies Locker Room. Children ages 12-15 are permitted in the Men’s/Ladies Locker Rooms, only if accompanied by an adult. Children under 12 are not permitted in the Men’s/Ladies Locker Room. Locker Room facilities are located in the pool area for children under the age of 12. 

PARKING/VALET
Cars may be parked in the allotted parking areas only. Cars are not permitted to be parked in the driveway, on the circle, or on lawns adjacent to the circle and driveway at any time unless parked by the Club’s valets. Valet attendants are not permitted to drive members or guests off the IGC property.

PARTIES & SPECIAL EVENTS
All requests for a party or special event reservation for more than eight (8) must be made with Club Management. A Member must be in attendance at every party or special event. All charges for a party or special event are the responsibility of the Member and will be billed to a Member account. A Member may not receive any form of gratuity for a party or special event.

PETS
Pets are not permitted anywhere at Inverness Golf Club with the exception of Service Animals.

RESERVATIONS
Reservations are requested for all a la carte dining. Reservations can be made 30 days in advance via OpenTable or via the front desk.

SERVICE CHARGE
A 23% service charge is added onto all club “Events & Banquets” and added as a percentage of your total bill. A 20% charge is added to all a la carte dining bills.
Cash tipping is permitted for:
  • Valet Service
  • Bag Room Staff
  • Shoe & Locker Service
  • Coat Checking
Cash tips for all other staff are not necessary and optional.

SMOKING, VAPING AND DRUGS
No smoking is allowed in the Clubhouse. Smoking is allowed in outside designated areas only, on the golf course and driving range. No drugs of abuse including cannabis are permitted on the premises. Must follow applicable Illinois law.

SOLICITATION OF MEMBERS
No notices, advertisements, subscription lists or petitions, except those relating to Club affairs, shall be posted or circulated; and then only with approval of the Board, or the Committee in charge of the subject matter. Use of the Club Roster as a mailing list in any fashion (call or electronic) is prohibited. 

ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE SALES AND CONSUMPTION POLICY
Inverness Golf Club is licensed by the State of Illinois and County of Cook to purchase and resell beverages which contain alcoholic spirits. Inverness Golf Club must comply with the state and county laws regarding the resale of alcoholic beverages or risk forfeiture of its license.

Inverness Golf Club, in compliance with State and County laws, has trained their sellers and servers of alcoholic beverages on alcohol and its effects, liquor laws of the State of Illinois and Cook County, and alcohol awareness practices.

Inverness Golf Club, through its Board of Directors, has adopted the following Alcoholic Beverage sales and Consumption Policy:
  1. Inverness Golf Club Management shall ensure, through means which they deem appropriate, that the bartender, wait staff, and others are instructed in making an initial determination of excessive alcohol consumption by an individual.
  2. Inverness Golf Club members are responsible for their own and their guests’ behavior while on the Club grounds.
  3. Employees may not sell or serve alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21.
  4. An employee becoming aware that a member or guest may be under the influence of alcohol should notify Inverness Golf Club management immediately and not serve additional alcoholic beverages to this individual. If possible, Club Management shall personally observe the individual concerned. Management shall then make determination to cease or not cease service in a diplomatic manner, either advising the member directly, or the host member who shall be responsible for advising his or her guest.
  5. If Inverness Golf Club management is not immediately available, the employee should:
    • Decline the service of additional alcoholic beverages.
    • Arrange a ride to the individual’s home.
    • Notify the other employees that the individual should not be served additional alcohol and not be allowed to drive a motorized vehicle.
    • Report said incident to management within 24 hours.
  6. Members should not reprimand or abuse staff under circumstances where the staff’s judgment indicated alcohol service to an individual should cease.
  7. Any disciplinary action taken against a member which arises as a result of the implementation of the Club’s policy on alcohol service shall be at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
  8. Outside food and beverage is prohibited at IGC with the exception of bringing in bottles of wine which will incur a corkage fee per bottle opened. All other outside beverage is strictly prohibited.
  9. Members are not permitted to serve themselves alcohol. Exceptions would be non-opened beverages contained within the halfway house or other areas of the club.
